Following his studies atthe American Institute ofChicago and the ChicagoAcademy of Arts, RaymondKatz was employed by Balaban and Katz Theater Corporation to decorate movie palaces. His mural commission, TenCommandments at Chicago’s Century of Progress exhibitionin 1933 was based on the Hebrew alphabet. Subsequentmurals and stained-glass window designs commissioned bysynagogues throughout America display symbolic imagesinterpretive of Jewish traditions.
